Selecting a Real Estate Agent: Buying a Property Requires a Process of Many Difficult Decisions. Choosing the right agent is a a very important step in the home buying process. It is important here to learn how the Buyer agency works. Usually buyer agents are paid by the vendor. Real Estate agents belong to different Boards (depending on which city they have registered to) and pay to be a member. With this said, they are able to pool almost 85% of all listings up for sale on the market. Most sellers are willing to pay the listing agent for listing the home for everyone to know their home is for sale and are also willing to pay a buyer agent for matching the RIGHT buyer for their property. You should ask your agent their policies in the home buying process. Some will charge you on top of the commission they generate from the sale of your home, while most won't. But there may be cases where your agent may introduce you to a property where the vendor is not cooperating to pay the Buyer agent and your agent may feel he/she has worked hard to deserve income. Click here to learn why I would make a great Buyer Agent.
